Weekly Schedule at the Center
Meditation Nights
Wednesday and Thursday nights beginning at 7:00 p.m. we hold regular meditation sessions. All are welcome to attend, beginners as well as those experienced in meditation. Please try to arrive a few minutes before 7:00 p.m. to avoid
disturbing others by walking in late. However, if it is unavoidable, please do not hesitate to walk in quietly and make yourself comfortable.
Both insight (Vipassana) and concentration (Samatha) meditation are practiced, along with walking meditation and instruction. Thursday nights generally include a short “dharma” talk; that is a lesson or commentary on practical application of the Buddha’s teachings.
If you are new to meditation, please let the leader of the session know so they can answer your questions and offer any instruction you may desire.
Sunday Services
Beginning at 9:00 a.m. the Sunday service includes two short meditation periods of about 15-20 minutes. Before each period, there is group chanting of two Buddhist sutras (the Buddha’s teachings) which is done in English.
The Sunday service opens with a brief melodic chant, which is common throughout the Buddhist world. It is recited in the language of Pali, which is the original language of the Buddha’s time. The chant lasts about 3 minutes. The balance of the service is in English.
An open discussion forum with coffee and treats follows the services from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Please join us!
